Holistic Therapy & Counseling
Are you craving support that sees the full picture of who you are? Therapy isn’t just about talking through problems. It’s about being witnessed, held, and guided through the process of becoming more connected to yourself. For many women in midlife, this is a time of deep change and awakening. What used to work may no longer feel aligned. Relationships shift. Careers evolve. Questions surface. You may find yourself wondering: Who am I now? What’s next?
These are not easy questions, and they aren’t meant to be faced alone. Therapy can provide a container where you don’t have to hold it all by yourself. It’s a space where you can bring the parts of yourself you may have hidden away, unpack the weight of old experiences, and learn to trust the wisdom of your own inner voice again. Whether you’re longing for clarity, healing, or simply a safe place to land, therapy can help you reconnect with yourself in a way that feels real and lasting.
If you’re looking for a therapist in Boulder, CO who can hold space for both the emotional and energetic layers of your experience, I’m here to support you.
Therapy works best when you feel safe and connected. To make sure this feels right for you, I offer free, no-pressure 20-minute discovery calls where we can meet, share, and sense whether we’re the right fit.
My Approach to Therapy
I’m Kristen Brickl, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Intuitive Channel based in Boulder. I specialize in working with women who are navigating the complexities of midlife. My approach integrates trauma-informed therapy with nervous system awareness, intuitive guidance, and soul work. Every session is tailored to you and your unique journey.
Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. Many clients come to me because they’ve tried other approaches that never felt like quite enough. They’re looking for something deeper — support that doesn’t just manage symptoms, but truly helps them shift old patterns and step into new ways of being.
Some clients seek support for anxiety or grief. Others come when they’re moving through identity shifts, burnout, relationship changes, or unresolved trauma. No matter where you find yourself, the work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and respect for your timing.
How Therapy Can Help
Therapy offers more than coping skills — it gives you a place to slow down, explore, and be deeply seen. Together, we might look at the ways your body is carrying stress, uncover how past experiences are shaping your present, or reconnect you with the parts of yourself you’ve silenced.
For many women, therapy becomes a place to finally name what’s been unsaid. The process often brings relief, clarity, and a deeper sense of self-trust. You may find yourself moving through challenges with more resilience, creating healthier relationships, and beginning to feel grounded in your own skin again.
Even if the external circumstances of your life take time to shift, the way you experience yourself can change. And that change makes everything else feel more possible.
Therapy vs. Intuitive Work
Some clients work with me for therapy, some for intuitive readings, and many for both. Therapy provides a structured, clinical container for emotional processing and long-term growth. Intuitive work often brings in fresh clarity and energetic insight that can accelerate the process.
You don’t have to choose one path over the other. Therapy and intuitive guidance can work hand-in-hand, offering a holistic approach that honors both the mind and the soul. For some clients, moving between the two creates a rhythm of grounded insight and deeper integration.
Location and Accessibility
My practice is based in Boulder, Colorado, where I see clients both in person and virtually. If you’re elsewhere in Colorado, virtual therapy allows us to connect no matter where you are — whether in Denver, the foothills, or a mountain town that feels worlds away.
This flexibility means that support is available when and how you need it most.
About Me: Your Boulder Therapist
Clients often tell me that they feel safe, seen, and supported in our work together.
I bring over a decade of counseling experience, along with specialized training in trauma-informed care and nervous system regulation. My background also includes EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and other somatic practices.
Alongside my clinical work, I bring a lifelong intuitive sensitivity that allows me to integrate spiritual awareness into the therapeutic process when it feels supportive. This means our sessions are both grounded and expansive — rooted in safety, while also opening the door to deeper layers of meaning and connection.
My role isn’t to fix you, but to walk beside you as you explore your truth, release what no longer serves you, and reclaim your sense of wholeness.

FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Boulder, CO
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
Not at all. Many of my clients come to therapy because they want support, perspective, or a safe space to process life transitions. Therapy can be just as powerful for growth and self-discovery as it is for times of struggle.
What happens in a first session?
Our first session is about getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what’s bringing you in, and we’ll talk about your goals and needs. You’ll also get a feel for my personality and how I work. We’ll take things slow and determine the unique care path that’s right for you.
How often should I come to therapy?
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, depending on their goals and availability. Over time, we may adjust the frequency to fit your needs and the pace of your process.
Can we combine therapy with intuitive work?
Yes. Some clients choose to weave intuitive readings into their therapy journey. Others prefer to keep them separate. We can talk together about what kind of support feels most helpful for you right now.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. In addition to in-person sessions in Boulder, I offer secure virtual therapy for clients anywhere in Colorado. In today’s world, most of my clients choose the flexibility of remote sessions, but I am still available for in-person counseling at Jade Mountain Health, 745 Poplar Ave, Boulder, CO 80304. This flexibility makes it easier to stay consistent, even if you’re traveling or live outside the area.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
The best way to find out is through a discovery call. These are free, no-pressure 20-minute conversations where you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether my approach feels supportive.
